| Trout Season Is Open
Well we survived another Michigan winter and spring has sprung. The weather has been ideal for the hatch. The AuSable and Upper Manistee are in great condition and despite the lack of rain we have seen great hatches. Black stones, caddis, and Hendrixsons have been showing up in the middle of the afternoon. Best time of the day 2:30 to 5 pm. Stick around for the evening hatch though. There have some Hendrixson spinner falls. Trout are rising.
The fish are bulking up. Most of the fish caught on the opening weekend showed fat bellies. Streamers are working well during the morning and early afternoon. Nymphing is a sure bet this time of year. Green Caddis, black stones, copper johns, and hairs ear nymphs are a good choice. Bottom line, Season is open and fish are feeding. Have fun!

This beautiful brookie was fun!
